Magic Mike star Channing Tatum is speaking out about a lawsuit filed by two male strippers who claim the new movie is based on their lives.
Thomas “Awesome” Austin and London Steele say the movie is about them, and have filed a lawsuit. Tatum says that Steele has been trying to capitalize on Tatum’s fame since he became an actor, and that Steele was behind the distribution of the video that was the genesis of the film.
“Thank God my friend here saw and we made a move from it,” says Tatum, referring to Magic Mike director Steven Soderbergh.
Soderbergh developed the film after learning about Channing Tatum’s former life as a make stripper. The highly anticipated film is in theaters now.
