on January 19, 2013 in Dallas, Texas.

The ban on handguns in public in Washington has been ruled unconstitutional. Judge Frederick J. Scullin Jr. concluded that the District of Columbia’s ban on carrying handguns in public could not be deemed constitutional.

The ruling was decided on Thursday in the U.S. District Court. Currently, it is still unclear as to what effects the ruling will have.

The plaintiffs in the case were a group of firearms advocates including four individuals and the Second Amendment Foundation. Defendants included the District of Columbia and Cathy Lanier, the police chief.
