Eliot Spitzer’s ex-wife Silda has come out the clear monetary winner of their divorce.
The pair split after it was discovered that Spitzer was Client No. 9 in a federal prostitution probe. The former governor was forced to resign over the incident.
Silda Spitzer will be given $7.5 million over the course of seven years. She will also receive $240,000 a year for the rest of her life.
In addition, Eliot Spitzer has promised to see that Silda can stay in their Fifth Avenue apartment in New York at no cost to her. If that arrangement won’t work out, he has said he will move her to another residence of similar caliber. Should Silda remarry, she will forgo her maintenance payments and will be forced to pay occupancy expenses for the apartment.
Silda originally stood by Spitzer during his 2008 hooker scandal. However, last year, the couple finally split up, as revealed in a public statement.
Spitzer has also agreed to pay his ex-wife’s health care, medical insurance, accountant, part-time assistant and housekeeper. In addition, the ex-wife will receive a new car every five years.
