An agent to TV, film and Broadway actors won’t be playing the showbiz role anytime soon after being sentenced to three years probation for stealing more than $500,000 from his former clients.
Peter Strain will complete his sentence by spending six months in home confinement and take part in 500 hours of community service.
The former agent frequently stole from three TV actors, at one point telling one actor his payment was lost in the mail. While the actors were not named in the suit, it was reported that The Wire actor John Doman was shorted $440,000 by Strain. Doman contested the money owed was for his work on the series “The Borgias.”
Prosecutors outlined Strain’s deception, saying the ex-agent used the money from his clients to acquire $310,000 in
artwork, $161,000 in jewelry and $57,000 in other luxurious items.
