Female Plumber Walks Free After Hurling a Glass at a Stranger

22-year-old Sheona Keith had just found out she would not be working the plumbing job she had spent three years training for just before the incident at an Exeter nightclub.

James Kirkham, a total stranger to Keith, had been staring at her and giving her unwanted attention, so she picked up a glass and chucked it at his head. Kirkham ended up with a one-inch cut on his eyebrow and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Keith’s lawyer Nick Bradley told the court that prior to the incident, she had been experiencing issues with harassment at work and was ready to take a stand. Keith admitted to Judge Phillip Wassall that she intentionally caused bodily harm, and in turn he discharged her, only ordering her to pay £400 compensation to the victim. Judge Wassall explained he was taking the pain and grief she had been going through into consideration.
