French law enforcement has just cracked a counterfeit Birkin bag ring that included several Hermès employees in the roundup.
About a dozen people were collected in the sting after authorities found a factory where people were producing faux Hermès bags. Police say the ring may have pulled in over 18 million euros in sales.
In the aftermath of the bust, Hermès fired two employees who are believed to be part of the ring, and the company believes other employees may be part of the counterfeit business as well.
The French investigation is the latest in a recent string of busts where counterfeiters are copying luxury goods; Burberry just won a lawsuit stemming from a counterfeiting claim.
