Megaupload Users Ready to Take on the FBI

Megaupload users are coordinating a grievance against the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation because of a bulk wipeout of the website’s files last week.

Pirate Parties around the world are accumulating a list of people who want to file a common objection to the FBI. Megaupload, a file-sharing site used for files too large to send via email, ceased to exist Thursday after founder Kim Dotcom was arrested for money laundering and piracy.

While the basis of the site itself is not illegal, the Motion Picture Association of America alleges the bulk of files shared on Megaupload infringe on copyright laws. The site made money by charging a subscription fee for quicker downloads and fewer commercials.
