Katherine Jackson, mother to Michael Jackson, has accused AEG Live of negligently hiring Conrad Murray during Jackson’s rehearsal period in Los Angeles prior to his London tour. Murray, jailed after a 2011 conviction of involuntary manslaughter, may be called to testify.
Michael Jackson passed at the age of 50 in his LA mansion after an overdose of Propfol prescribed by Murray, a drug used as a sleep aid. The issue has finally gone to court years later, and Jackson’s mother claims AEG Live caused Jackson’s stress, eventually leading to his death. AEG counters with the claim that Jackson had a history of drug abuse and that Jackson’s death was a result of self medicating, also noting that they were not responsible for the hire of Conrad Murray.
