NBA Star’s Ex-Wife Sues Over Alleged Violent Arrest

Siohvaughn Funches-Wade, the ex-wife of NBA basketball star Dwyane Wade has filed a lawsuit against her husband’s former attorney and the Dolton police. She is accusing the two parties of filing false charges against her and assaulting her.

Funches-Wade faced arrest on June 16, 2012. She was hit with child abduction charges, unlawful visitation interference and also resisting arrest. Funches-Wade contended that she was attacked during the arrest and as a result experienced a torn rotator cuff.

Cook County court records note all of the charges were dismissed with the exception of the resisting arrest charge.

The NBA star’s ex-wife was arrested after she reportedly wouldn’t return her children to Wade’s sister. Funches-Wade lost custody of her two boys with Dwyane Wade back in 2001.
