Prince Retires $22 Million Case Against Supposed Bootleggers

2011 MusiCares Person Of The Year Tribute To Barbra Streisand - Concert

Prince has dropped his $22 million lawsuit against some alleged music bootleggers. The artist filed the lawsuit when 22 bootleggers reportedly posted footage of his concerts on the Internet.

Prince accused anonymous bloggers of using footage of his concerts without his permission on their Facebook pages and other websites. Each blogger was hit with a $1 million charge. The lawsuit was filed less than two weeks ago.

Once the lawsuit went public, Prince rested his case against the bootleggers and dropped the lawsuit. Prince’s lawyer said the lawsuit was dropped as the illegal downloads had been removed online by the bootleggers. He encouraged fans to obtain Prince material from the artist’s camp rather than from third parties.
