Former “American Idol” judge and rapper Nicki Minaj is being sued over her headwear. Wig designer Terrence Davidson is accusing the star of snatching up his wig designs. He also claims she cost him a reality show deal.
In the $30 lawsuit, Davidson and his attorney, Christopher Chestnut argue that he played a key role in crafting Minaj’s image. The rapper also now profits from her wigs, selling designs Davidson came up with on her site, the alleged victim argues.
In the lawsuit
filed on Friday, Davidson states how he began working for Minaj as a hair stylist back in January of 2010. He contends that he started making wigs for the rapper, wigs she would then use for her appearances.
The lawsuit points out how Minaj is reaping the financial rewards of Davidson’s creative wig designs. Davidson also claims the two were in talks to launch a wig line and potentially a reality show. By 2012, the lawsuit explains how the rapper began isolating her hair stylist.
Minaj is known for her style, namely her wide range of wigs. On the cover of her hit album “Pink Friday” she wears a pink wig. Mr. Davidson has worked with other stars in the industry such as Patti LaBelle and Remy Ma.
