Yahoo takes on Facebook in an Infringement Lawsuit

Following Facebook’s publication of plans for an initial public offering that could set the company’s value to $100 billion, Yahoo will be seeking licensing dues from Facebook over ten patents.

Filed in a San Jose, California federal court on Monday, the lawsuit marks a key growth of patent litigations that has already been on the rise in the smartphone and tablet sectors such as Apple Inc, Microsoft Corp and Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc.

Facebook spokesman Jonathan Thaw, learned of the lawsuit through the media and has stated they are disappointed that the longtime business partner of Facebook has resorted to litigation. Yahoo on the other hand has said that since matters with Facebook have remained unresolved, they have no other choice but to seek a remedy through the federal court system.
